The church as "family."At Linworth, life groups are an essential strategy to building community and facilitating spiritual growth. We believe community is at the heart of Christianity and that life groups are a practical way to experience that community in our world today. In Acts 2:42-47 we read: "And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.” In life groups we have the opportunity:…to build acceptance, trust, openness and intimacy with other Christ-followers. …to discover God’s truth and learn how to apply it in our lives. …to help fulfill the Great Commission by teaming with others to share our faith or serve the poor. …to enter into and be transformed through healthy confrontation. …to receive wise counsel from friends who know and understand me. …to “see” examples of Christ-likeness.
At Linworth we have four different kinds of Life Groups:
Life Station Groups: 6 to 16 people drawn together by a common place or station in life Recovery Groups: Drawn together by a common need or life crisis Accountability Groups: Smaller groups of less than 6 designed to elevate the integration of faith and life Gender-based Groups: Men’s or Women’s groups designed to meet specific needs
Special Note: Life Group engagement is required for ministry leadership |
